Concept
The types of machinery and equipment found around the engine rooms of modern cargo ships include deck machinery (like mooring equipment), anchor handling equipment, cargo handling equipment, and hatch covers.
Deck machinery motors require a strong IP class to be able to withstand rough sea conditions. Aside from a solid design to deliver the required electrical performance, the motors need to be tightly sealed with no gaps to prevent an ingress of water under extreme weather conditions. And with saltwater a factor, motors are required to have a suitable coating to resist corrosion.
We use the best quality attached brakes and encoders when necessary and will provide adequate protection to the entire assembly. These motors power different kinds of winches, windlasses and capstans. Rotor NL® motors are designed to meet or exceed specified requirements – covering the uncertainties of environment and use.
