Back in the 80-ies and 90-ies our capabilities to deliver day and night was already well known and a strong benefactor for our operations. In those days having a stock position of up to 100.000 motors, we were able to sell ‘anything, anytime’.
Over the years we have leveraged this, by reducing the amount of motors on stock, without impacting deliveries. Short delivery times require a logistic flow that is smooth and flawless.
Implementing EDI on the purchase & receive processes has highly contributed to this, reducing the amount of actions to perform, as well as the time it requires to have new products on stock. Starting in the late 90ies with EDI, this encouraged us to continuously improve the flow of the goods up to the moment they are being picked from a stock location.
Additionally, we started implementing intelligent workstations on our forklifts in 2004, which allows our logistic team to fulfil their tasks with ease as well as highly reducing the risk for mistakes. The ERP system guides the driver on all tasks, even up to the level of serial# of the product.
FIFO, reserving stock as well as marking purchases all attribute to a flawless operation.
